Our agency

Welcome to AVSTA

Antelope Valley Schools Transportation Agency was formed on July 1, 1980, following a feasibility study regarding forming a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) by the following districts: Antelope Valley Union High School District, Gorman School District, Hughes-Elizabeth Lakes School District, Keppel Union School District, Lancaster School District, Palmdale School District, Westside Union Elementary School District, and Wilsona School District. The Joint Powers Authority is a union between two or more public entities with common interests, whose purpose is to join forces and share resources.

AVSTA moved from its original location at Antelope Valley High School to its current facility at 670 West Avenue L-8 in 1988. Since 1993, the Agency has obtained more than $11 million in grants for new school buses and fueling infrastructure, reducing district costs and helping mitigate Antelope Valley air pollution.
